What If I Only See What I Want To See?
Do I see reality as it is? Maybe I only see what I want to see? On many occasions we are not aware that our entire reality is highly influenced by our desires and thoughts.
All this causes that, sometimes, we do not observe everything that happens around us. An example may be when we find ourselves so obsessed with accomplishing something that we are unable to discern all that we are doing wrong.
Why do I see what I want to see?
Desiderative thinking is born in our mind, a thought that arises from our desires and not from reality. This only causes problems for us in our daily lives. Then we have to deal with them, but sometimes we can’t see them.
Is it negative if I see the reality that only I want to see? It is not negative or positive, it is something normal that happens to all people. We must accept it and understand what are the traps that our thinking tends to.
We focus excessively on the result
Our mind is focused on the result, never on the path that leads to the goal. This is why if we want our son to get a good grade and suddenly he brings us a failure, we will not be aware of the pressure to which we have subjected him.
This causes us serious problems of blindness that often prevents us from empathizing with the people around us. But it also causes us not to see our own mistakes and that we are not aware of what we are doing wrongly.
It prevents us from seeing the evidence and obstacles
Don’t I see the problems that others do? Maybe it’s your thoughts that are clouding all of this. We are so determined to achieve the results we want that we do not know how to listen to those around us. Those who tell us that everything is not as good as we think.
The big problem arises when we cannot reach our objectives or when something is truncated along the way. Only then do we stop to think about those evidences that we did not perceive before.
Cause great frustrations
If I so see what I want to see, sooner or later I will be frustrated. Reality is what it is and, even if I don’t want to, I will have to see it. That fantasy world that I have created in our mind will block me on more than one occasion.
The traps of our mind, of this wishful thinking, have as a consequence the terrible disappointments that we live and the disappointments towards others. All of this comes from that world that we have created, but which is totally unreal.
Use wishful thinking to your advantage
You may find yourself discovering something you didn’t know before. All the disappointments and disappointments, everything for which you have suffered has been the result of your mind, your desires and desires that adorned a non-existent reality.
But can we do something about wishful thinking? It is true that we can use it to our advantage. To do this, it is important to take into account the following steps that can help us:
- Transform the desire into a goal : the wishes are just that, but if you transform it into a goal that is achievable you can prevent everything from being thwarted.
- Imagine the best result : It is important to maintain a positive vision, so imagine the best possible result and let all those good feelings fill you.
- Obstacles will help you : when an obstacle appears in your life it will help you return to reality, so focus on them and think about how to solve them.
- Establish a plan : Obstacles are something that will always be present, so have a plan in advance to react in the event that one of them appears. This way you will be forewarned.
All of this can be applied to any situation in your life, be it at work or in your personal relationships. Our desires confuse us and lead us to imagine a reality that only we see.
Being aware of this and acting prudently will avoid many troubles. So learn to use wishful thinking to your advantage and, little by little, you will see how all these disappointments and disappointments are now a thing of the past.
